Thomas Day Rocking Chair

This beautiful rocking chair is part of a collection of a collector of Thomas Day furniture. The points that could suggest Day is the carving at the top of the arm. The examples that I have seen are more pronounced than on this one. Also the carving on the arm and at the top of the back are hand carved. I believe the rocker is solid mahogany except for the panel in front of the seat. The construction of this rocker indicates it was made prior to 1850 which puts it in Thomas Day's time.
