This very unusual Podium looks like it was once used as an ice box - part of a collection from a collector of Thomas Day. The top has a door with a keyed lock which opens up to a bottom section (storage). There are 2 round vents on both sides of the raised podium. The nice, old, wide (one side board is 20.5" wide) boards have been hand planed on all sides. Both front bottom and sides have unique curves. The only thing that deters me from thinking that this is an ice box is that there is no metal interior - or it has been removed. One piece of metal interior remains underneathe the top lid. All sides are finished except for the back side like it should sit up against a wall. There is a small piece missing off one back foot and one side has a split and shrinkage with a filler applied to the crack. Plenty of pictures below!!
